Wish You Were Here, Part II

Almost everyone I know loves the Fall... the air gets crisp, the leaves turn colors, it's sweater weather. I have finally accepted that summer can be too hot and summery, and have accepted the conventional wisdom of the supremacy of autumn. But there really hasn't been a time when I haven't loved Fall.

In a way, Fall was always my re-birth. Back to school. I would see my friends again, and re-teach my hand to write after a long summer of active gross-motor function. I would get new back-to-school clothes. Re-learn to get up early in the morning. Always a new start, a new year, a new chance. Always the Adirondack fall foliage to look forward to, the brisk bike rides, the clear view of French Mountain from my window once the leaves had fallen.

Yeah, winter is on its way, and days get way too short way too quickly. But by the time autumn comes, I could really use a break from summer. And yeah, it starts getting really cool outside, but I get to heap blankets on my bed and sleep with its comfortable weight around me. Summer will always be my favorite, but there's something about autumn that can't be denied.

My new Wish You Were Here is a photo album on my Shutterfly page. It's a bunch of photos that I took on a walk around my neighborhood. Come see what a beautiful day it was on November 9, 2008!

Wish You Were Here

"Perceived Philly"
5" x 1.32", 250 DPI, digital photo of Philadelphia as seen from the Adventure Aquarium

When I moved here, I really disliked it. Such a change from Boston, MA. Gone were the days when I could walk the streets safely at any time of day or night. But there ARE good things to be found in Philly.
